Dag (pronounced “Doug”) is a multi-instrumentalist, music producer, and teacher from Norway. He grew up surrounded by family members who played music, and he started playing drums in church at a young age. His love for music brought him to Boston in 2011 to attend Berklee College of Music. After graduating in 2015 with his Bachelors in Drum Performance and Music Production, Dag relocated to Los Angeles. Since then, he has performed and toured with artists all over the US and around the world. Dag writes and produces for his band and also works with other artists as a producer and helps them to develop their live shows.
Dag started teaching private lessons during his high school years in Norway. Since then, he has taught drums, piano, guitar, ukulele, bass and various kinds of music production and DJ classes. He is very passionate about teaching and investing into the next generation of aspiring musicians. Dag fully believes in an individualized, student-centric teaching method. Because each student is unique in their interests and ways of learning, he prides himself in finding an approach of teaching that best fits each individual student. This way, he can fully engage them and maximize their musical potential. If the student has fun learning and playing their instrument, they will flourish and excel at a great rate.
Hometown: Aalesund, Norway – the most beautiful place on Earth.
Musical influences: Wow! The list is long and always growing, but I’ll mention a few here. I love Mutemath (favourite band), Michael Jackson (first album I owned was “Thriller”), the Foo Fighters (Dave Grohl was a big inspiration growing up), and Vinnie Colaiuta (for being the most versatile and incredible drummer ever).
Instruments you play and teach: Drums, Guitar, Piano, Ukulele, Bass, Music Production, and DJ-ing.
Favorite non-musical hobby, pastime or activity: Skateboarding and beach volleyball might be on top of the list. I also love mountains and hiking – maybe because I grew up in Norway!
Favorite food: Tacos without a doubt! Thank you, Los Angeles, for your amazing taco trucks!
Fun/random fact about you: I served in the military in Norway, where I was stationed in the northern part of Norway to patrol the Russian/Norwegian border.
