Because the viola does not have frets (unlike the guitar or the ukulele), training a young violist’s ear to recognize and replicate accurate pitch is of the utmost importance. We blend the Suzuki method (for ear-training) with the traditional method of note-reading and focus heavily on proper playing technique so that our students develop good habits and have all of the tools they will need in order to be successful as they learn to play the viola.
