Barbara

Piano, Voice, Guitar, Bass, Ukulele, Songwriting Teacher

Barbara is a piano, voice, guitar, bass, ukulele and songwriting teacher based in Los Angeles. A native of Brazil, she moved to the US to attend Berklee College of Music, and she graduated summa cum laude in 2016 with her Bachelors of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production. Starting from a very young age, Barbara has always loved to sing. Her musical curiosity has led her to pursue learning and performing on multiple instruments over the years! Most recently she was the bassist and backing vocalist for the blues band, The Reverend Shawn Amos! Her versatility as a singer means she is comfortable in multiple styles. She can also sing in English, Spanish, French, and Brazilian Portuguese!

As a teacher, Barbara brings a real warmth and sincerity to each of her lessons. She’s particularly great with young students, who really respond well to her nurture and care. Patient, supportive, encouraging, and lots of fun, her teaching style strikes a great balance between substance and playfulness. As a result, her students flourish in their lessons with her!

"I'm so happy that we found The Schuler Music Studio! We worked with a couple of teachers before this, and it used to be like pulling teeth, trying to get my daughter to practice the piano during the week. Ever since we enrolled her in lessons with you, it's been a complete 180. I love listening to her play, and I love even more that she goes to the piano on her own without me having to tell her to. I'm telling everybody about it! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" - Eleonor R., Sherman Oaks
